Andriy Yurkevych

CURRICULUM VITAE

In 1999, he graduated from the Musical Academy Lyssenko of Lviv (Ukraine), speciality – conducting,  under the guidance of Yuriy Lutsiv. He has subsequently specialized at the National Theatre Wielki in Warsaw with Jacek Kaspszyk and subsequently with Alberto Zedda and with Gianluigi Gelmetti at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena. He also was the winner of the special prize at the National Competition Turchak in Kiev (Ukraine).

Since 1996, he has started to work as the resident conductor at the National Opera Kruscelnytska in Lviv, where he made his debut in several operas, such as Aida, Nabucco, Il Trovatore, La Traviata, Rigoletto,   Otello, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, Carmen, Die Fliedermaus, Der Zigeunerbarone, Die Lustige Witwe, and several operas from the Russian repertoire. Among the Ballets it’s worth mentioning The Nutcracker, The Swan Lake, La Bayadère, Coppélia.

He was invited at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca for Marchetti’s Romeo e Giulietta and symphonic concerts. After debuting in the 2005 season in Tchaikovsky’s The Swan Lake on the podium of the Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, he returned to Rome conducting Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty and The Swann Lake. Engaged at the Opéra de Montecarlo in Il viaggio a Reims, he then was on the podium of the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles for Boris Godunov.

More recently he conducted: La fille du régiment at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago (Chile) and in San Francisco; Norma at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, in Mannheim and in Duisburg with Edita Gruberova; Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Bayerische Staatsoper; La forza del destino at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles; Pique Dame at the Theater St.Gallen; I Puritani at the Greek National Opera in Athens; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Stuttgard; Maria Stuarda at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Falstaff that opened 2010 season at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome; Rigoletto in Santiago de Chile; Evgenij Onegin in Düsseldorf; Roberto Devereux in Mannheim; La Bohème in Liège.

Concerning concert activity Andriy Yurkevych conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica Toscanini in Parma and the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo. He conducted a concert with Edita Gruberova at the Herkulessaal in Munich, in Wien, Frankfurt, and always with Mrs Gruberova Lucrezia Borgia in Dortmund, in Dresden and Köln.

He had just conducted Anna Bolena in Barcelona.

Plans include: Roberto Devereux in Zurich; Evgenij Onegin and Roberto Devereux in Warsaw; Norma in Paris (Salle Pleyel), Nice and Köln; Lucrezia Borgia in Budapest, Bratislav and Berlin; Norma in Berlin and Kohl.

He will be engaged in a series of concerts in Kiev, Prague, Berlin.
