Maria Bieshu – one bone and one flesh wither fine people its daughter,
who loves it with devotion and tenderness like all the great artists
she promotes the human brotherhood though the world.
Born on August 3rd 1935 in the village Volontir, district Stefan Voda.
Graduated from the Chisinau State Conservatoire after G.Muzicescu.
Since 1961 she has been a soloist at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. She made her debut in the part of Tosca by G.Puccini.
In 1965-1967 Maria increases the perfection by attending the probation “La Scala” in Milano. Under the Maestro Enrico Piazza she studied the parts of “Madam Butterfly”, “Tosca”, “Aida” and “The Troubadour”.
At the same time she won the Third Prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, and in 1967 was awarded the First Prize, the Golden Cup and the title of the world’s best Cio-Cio-San at the First International Competition in Memory of Miuro Tamaki in Tokyo.
Her success in Tokyo launched Maria Bieshu upon her road to worldwide fame. She has appeared on all the operatic stages across the Soviet Union, at the Metropolitan Opera and at Opera houses of Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Yugoslavia, Finland, and Austria. She made tours of Japan, Australia, and Cuba, and gave recitals in Rio de Janeiro, sang in Paris in the Olympia hall.
She enjoys a great repute among vocalists; that is confirmed by the fact that she is often invited to take part as a jury member in such important international vocalists’ competition as the M.I.Glinka and P.I.Tchaikovsky competitions. She was also invited as a jury member to participate in the First Tenor’s Competition after D.Andguladze in Batumi (Georgia) in 1996 and in the Vocalists’ Competition, devoted to the 100th Anniversary of Biul-Biul-Ogly (Baku).
Since 1986 - the President of the Musicians’ Union of Moldova.
Since 1992 – vice-president of the International Musicians’ Union.
The nature endowed Maria with an extraordinary voice, fine musicality, a powerful talent of a dramatic actress – unity of all these qualities creates a genuine opera singer.
Maria Bieshu is a singer of extraordinary musical endowments and possesses an unerring feeling of the musical truth. The list of Maria’s parts, embracing more than 30 characters testifies to the fact that she is an artist, devoted herself to a single broad subject. This subject is the tragic fate of a woman. Maria’s marvelous Norma is the absolute peak of her operatic art, where all the sides of the singer personality were expressed in the most complete and harmonious way.

Maria Bieshu – is the born opera singer. The creative thirst brought Maria onto the concert stage from her first independent steps. Her chamber interpretive art wins you with faultless sense of style, thoughtful polishing of meaning in musical and poetical texts, deep penetration into an image.
Maria’s chamber repertoire is enormous: Bach and Handel, Caccini and Gretry, Schumann and Schubert, Liszt and Grieg, Respigi and Fore, Rahmaninov and Tchaikosky, Prokofiev and Sviridov, Russian and Romanian folklore songs and romances, music of contemporary composers.
