The administration and the staff of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet come with a message of congratulation for the national opera soloists, Iurie Maimescu and Igor Ţurcan, who participated to The international contest «The masters of lyric art - Petre Ştefănescu-Goangă», which was held in the National Opera, Bucharest, in the period 22-27 March, where they won the 2nd and the 3rd prize.
The purpose of the competition was the discovering and lunching the best lyrical voices of new generation.
The contest took place in three steps, the participants coming from different countries like Romania, Republic of Moldova, Germany, Canada and China.
The last ten competitors, remained in the contest after two semifinals, performed two areas chose by the jury from the competitors’ repertoire. The young singers were accompanied by the local orchestra, under the music direction of the conductor, Cristian Sandu.
The jury was formed by: George Crăsnaru – Romanian bas-baritone, Cristian Sandu – conductor, Anda Tăbăcaru Hogea – opera director, Costin Popa – musicologist and the sopranos known worldwide-Nelly Miricioiu and Marina Krilovici. The head of the jury was the musicologist - Grigore Constantinescu.
The success of National Opera soloists, Iurie Maimescu and Igor Ţurcan demonstrates their high professional skills, the talent and mastery of national opera singers, being highly appreciated by the great artistic personalities. They represent the pride of our country.
